The standout surprise of the CourtMétrange festival came from Anne Zinn-Justin's beautiful Blood Sisters (France), which evokes a relationship between a vibrant woman and a more introverted one who admires her. Like the excellent In My Skin, the director steers her story of friendship towards anthropophagy. The introverted character ends up keeping the object of her admiration in a semi-conscious state in order to devour her alive, little by little. A remarkable film about the death wish that accompanies all feelings of admiration, Blood Sisters uses the gore inherent to such stories only as a means, never as an end.
